ARMANATH TEMPLE, SRINAGAR INDIA


Amarnath cave is a Hindu shirnes located at an altitude of 388 m (12756ft),bout 141 km (88mi) from Srinagar. Srinagar is the capital of Jammu and Kashmir and reach though pahalgam town. 



The cave is surrounded by snowy mountains covered with snow most of the year. Inside the high Amaranth Cable, the Stalagmite(ice) is formed due to freezing of water drops that fall from the roof of the cave on the floor and grows up vertically from the cave floor. It is considered to be a Shiva Linga by Hindus, and purnas represent that Lingam is a lord Shiva. As per religion beliefs amaranth ice Shiva linga that changes size and the lingam grows and with the phases of moon... The linga  size was decrease and increase.But for it there is no scientific  evidence for support .

The unknown facts about Amaranth is :-
* Amaranth cave is nearly 5000 years old. *The linggam is called swayambhu linnggam as its appears on its own. 
*Its believe that in Amaranth Cave Lord Shiva narrated the secret of The goddess Parvati. 
*Amaranth cave house a natural lingam made of ice. 
*The cave has two more ice linggams, each one representing goddess parvati and Lord Ganesha. *The journey of Amaranth cave starts from Pahalgam it is believed that lord Shiva left is bull nandhi here pahalagan is 96kms from Srinagar.
